Democracy is rule of people by the people
People engaging with each other instead of majority bullying the minority
Equality is more important than wealth levels (e.g. “The Spirit Level”)
Needs to move away from growth to degrowth
Occupy Democracy
Best democracies integrate difference and diversity
Workers’ democracy – e.g. 1970s in factories which acted in workers’ interests
Democratic education – create a culture of participation and citizenship
Access to information and who controls it – e.g. Edward Snowden’s revelations
